Arena Group enjoy UK Success at 2009 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship

The Arena Group successfully fulfilled their first major sporting event in the UAE when they installed a double decker corporate hospitality venue and public village for the forth 2009 Abu Dhabi Golf Championship this January. They weren’t the only British success at the event, as Paul Casey finished on under 21 to win the competition in a closely contested final round.

Arena’s UK Project Manager James Thomas and key UK staff were supported by local partners Harlequin, utilizing some of the £1.5million of temporary structures equipment the company has based in the region. They worked closely with the organisers IMG to install 6,000m² of temporary overlay, creating a public retail and catering village, a pristine media centre to host the international media covering the event and a luxurious double deck hospitality suite overlooking the 18th and 9th greens.

The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority hosted the facility, alongside other corporate sponsors including Etihad Airways, Rolls Royce, Aldar, Xerox, Emirates Palace, Continental, Airbus and Rolex. Each organisation entertained clients in custom designed internal suites, provided by UK company Networks.

A 30 minute hail storm on the first morning of the event surprised everyone, but the Arena Structures and event team were used to far worse weather in the UK and all facilities remained open and unaffected whilst the golfers took cover from the unexpected storms .
